Note: The chart is based on live actual final closings data from funds that have been included in the database. It does not contain any estimates or extrapolations and is bound to be incomplete. On the other hand, the fact that funds-of-funds and secondaries are not excluded causes the double counting of some amounts. When a fund is denominated in a currency different from USD, the exchange rate from the time of the respective closing has been used.

A more accurate way to calculate fundraising volumes would be to track each individual closing and allocate it to the respective year, when it has taken place.
