A Russian government venture capital fund of funds

The Russian Venture Company (RVC) was created in accordance with Ordinance #838-р of the Government of the Russian Federation from 7 june 2006 in order to stimulate the creation in Russia of a venture funding industry, the development of innovative sectors in the economy, and the promotion of technology intensive Russian products on the world markets. The charter capital of the company is RUB 28,225,879,400. RVC aims to achieve a significant increase of the financial resources available to the venture funds. The role of RVC in the innovation system is as a government venture fund of funds, through which the state stimulates venture investment and provides financial support to the technology sector in general. The priority sectors for the funds created with the participation of the RVC have been defined by the President of Russia as follows: (i) homeland security; (ii) life sciences (biotechnology, medical technology and medical devices); (iii) nanotechnology (nanosystems and materials); (iv) information and telecommunication systems; (v) rational use of national resources; (vi) transport, aviation and space systems; (vii) energy and energy saving.
